Job: Kitchen Assistant
Rate: £7.50 per hour
Hours: Over 30 hours per week
Location: Birmingham Central (B5)

Background:
The Green Room is an independently run cafe bar established for 22 years in the heart of Chinatown, Birmingham. Situated opposite the busiest theatre in the UK, The Green Room services diners with meals and drinks in a relaxed and friendly environment. With 100 covers and further seating on the outside sun-terrace, this is an exciting opportunity to join an established and hard-working team.

Main purpose of Job:
To assist the Kitchen Manager and Kitchen Team in food preparation, production, cooking, storage and service to the restaurant, including cleaning and closing down.

Candidate:
Will be enthusiastic and passionate about cooking food to a high standard.
Will be able to work fast and accurately during peak periods.
Will be able to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues.
Will be able to work effectively and harmoniously within a team.
Will be thorough in following recipes accurately.
Will be able to use their initiative in carrying out food preparation and cleaning.
Will ensure all cleaning and closing down procedures are fully adhered to.
Will be commercially minded in all aspects of food stock management to minimise wastage.

Responsibilities:
To assist in the preparation and cooking of food.
To help with washing and drying of kitchen pots / utensils / crockery and ensure their proper storage.
To clean kitchen area (floors / cookers etc) as part of the daily closing down procedure and regular cleaning rota.
To assist in ensuring a high level of health and safety, cleanliness and food hygiene, and to ensure that safe working practices are followed.
To assist in stock taking and storage of stock, including checking deliveries.
To carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the job.
To ensure that all health and safety matters are adhered to so as to fully comply with all legislative and best practice points of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
To undertake all other duties as and when directed by the Directors, General Manager and shift Supervisor.

    Overall Purpose of the Job:

    Key Responsibilities/Tasks:

    (Duties include but are not limited to the following)

    Essential Job Functions

    • Support the team and specifically the Sale-Coordinators in the day-to-day running of the department
    • Assist during sale weeks with research, client requests, photography and other related tasks
    • Work with support departments to ensure the smooth running of sales
    • Assist with compiling sale interest and bid requests
    • Support specialists with valuation requests, projects and research
    • Participate in telephone bidding during sales – training will be provided
    • CITES and Provenance research
    • Compiling and organising marketing information as relevant to the sales
    • Ensure that all telephone calls are answered and messages forwarded
    • Assist the team with Ecommerce sales and enquiries
    • Assist with ad-hoc requests as they arise

     

    Skills/Competencies Required:

    • Eligible to work in the UK
    • Ability to demonstrate client facing experience
    • Strong IT skills with experience of Microsoft Office programmes
    • Ability to learn Christie’s systems
    • Previous work experience within the arts sector, either paid or voluntary
    • Language skills (fluent in English) plus one other language desirable
    • Knowledge of Mandarin/Cantonese and interest in Asian art preferable
    • Previous experience working to tight deadlines and multi-tasking
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    The Oxbridge Research Group is looking for an energetic social media superstar to run a network of Weibo & WeChat social media pages. We want someone to take the lead on all content across the pages by creating your own content, memes, custom imagery etc. Your objectives will be to increase and grow the Group’s social media channels and start commercial conversations with brands. This part time role is available immediately.

    The Role

    • Applying your understanding of social media with a core aim to make people share every piece of content
    • Creating compelling copy for each post in Chinese
    • Generate and manage growth and engagement across Weibo and WeChat
    • Understanding what content works best on specific platforms and genre of social media pages you are managing and adapting strategies
    • Build relationships with different university student groups and send out marketing materials

    Key skills required for the role
